While Honda was building EGs and EKs for america in the mid to late 90s Mitsubishi was making some cool little hatches of thier own. If you lived in Europe or Japan you could choose your hatch, but as is the case with a lot of cool cars, the US didn’t get the opportunity to choose. The Mitsubishi Colt of the era bore a striking resemblence to the EG, and now over a decade later it has evolved in parallel to Honda’s efforts and closely resembles the Fit.

DOH! Thanks zekx, I gotta find some more info in this one.

  3. that Proton Satria hatchback [black 1st pic] is the same as a 4th Generation Mirage/Cyborg/Colt hatchback.

These hatches were so popular that there was even a Mirage/Cyborg cup in japan. After the 5th generation hatchback Mitsubishi turned their back to it and started making it into a econo-hatch like the Fit/Yaris. Its pretty disappointing.

A Ralliart tuned Mirage Cup hatchback equipped with the 4g92 DOHC MIVEC motor would produce 210hp w/9500rpm red line…pretty comparable to Honda’s B16.

    Mirage’s, Lancer’s, Colt’s, Cyborg’s are so under estimated.
